Important new information regarding credentialiting

Dear colleagues,
the Education and Credential Committee would like to communicate that all candidates who complete the residency programme in the same year (by the 31st December) of the credential file submission are eligible to submit their credential file by the 1st of September, therefore prior to the end of their residency programme.
However, if the candidate submits a successful credential file prior to completion of their residency programme, the credential file will only be preliminary approved until the letter from the Supervisor of the Residency Training Programme (certifying that the minimum requirement have been achieved) is received by the Chair of the Credential Committee once the residency programme has been completed.
Credentials submission checklist
- Updated Candidate's Curriculum Vitae Form. (Annex 1)
- Education Programme Form (Credentials submission) signed by the Residency Programme Supervisor. (Annex 4)
- Evaluation by the Residency Programme Supervisor of the level of training and knowledge reached by the Resident. (Supervisor Statement)
- Completed Case log form. (Annex 5)
- Letter of evidence of rotation in Large Animal Neurology when required. (Annex 6)
- Original signed letter(s) for each of the discipline of
- Internal Medicine,
- Diagnostic Imaging,
- Anaesthesia and/or Critical Care,
- Pathology and
- Ophthalmology. (Annex 6)
- Evidence of publication (please submit the PDFs of the publications) or full acceptance of publication of two first author publications pertaining to veterinary neurology (please submit the email of acceptance from the journal editor). For publications in press, the credentials file should include a copy of the final accepted manuscript and figures
- Credential Submission Fee form 2024 (update February 2024 : please make sure you have made the payment and your contribution appears in your profile as a proof of payment) + Evidence of membership of ESVN from the beginning of the Residency Training Programme up to the year of the examination.

The College may certify veterinarians who have passed the College’s examinations,
which they were allowed to sit on the basis of being judged to be Internationally recognised
specialists: Application to take the ECVN examination without having previously
undertaken an approved residency. The applicant has to provide evidence that they are
equivalent to, or exceed, the standard of a candidate that has been approved to sit the
College’s examination after undergoing an approved residency. In order to demonstrate
this, the following guidelines must be followed.
