Veterinarian with advanced training in Neurology and Neurosurgery. Board certification or eligibility to take the certifying examination of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or European College of Veterinary Neurology is required by the date of appointment; PhD or advanced training in research is preferred but not required. Clinical experience and competence in medical neurology and neurosurgery is required and an interest in developing a surgical subspecialty within the Neurology/Neurosurgery Service is preferred. Demonstrated aptitude and experience in teaching is required. Documented research record or potential to develop an independent research program is required; a research emphasis in neurosurgery or neurosurgical related fields is preferred. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
A valid license to practice veterinary medicine in California is required before employment begins (California Business and Professions Code Section 4846-4857). Individuals without a full California license must obtain a University License (California Business and Professions Code Section 4848.1) by the time of appointment.
