Our
clinical training residency in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery is
a three-year program satisfying the training requirements needed to
attain specialist certification in the European College of Veterinary
Neurology.
The
programme includes clinical neurology and neurosurgery, and you will
have primary case responsibility for a varied caseload. You will
participate in an out of hours on-call rota for neurological and
neurosurgical emergencies. The clinical training program
is well supported by 4 Neurology clinicians (including
2 ECVN Diplomates and 2 board
eligible clinicians), another
ECVN resident, a neurology intern and rotating general interns. The team is assisted by 1 dedicated
neurology nurses and a kennel assistant.
Facilities
include on-site MRI, computed
tomography, fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostic system including
video EEG, radiation
therapy and physiotherapy
facilities. Specialists in internal medicine, orthopaedic and
soft-tissue surgery, cardiology, oncology, radiation therapy,
anaesthesia, ophthalmology, dermatology, radiology, dentistry and exotic
animals will also support the program.
Teaching
and clinical research is also emphasised, with structured time off
clinics allowed for study and the completion of research projects. The
program includes daily clinical rounds and bi-weekly journal club, book
reading and resident seminar series

You
will be enrolled on an ECVN Standard Veterinary Neurology Residency
Programme and will be exposed to
a wide range of specialist lead cases.

You will
be expected to sit the ECVN Board Exam in Neurology to
obtain specialist status.
You

The
ideal candidate will have fulfilled a rotating and Neurology internship
at a university or referral
hospital, have evidence of further education in Neurology and
show an interest in clinical research
SPECIFIC
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATION/STATUS/CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS
You
must fulfil the following requirements:

Completed a
recognised rotational internship, ideally in the UK for 1 year

Have
an excellent command of written and spoken English

Maintain
a professional and caring approach in all aspects of your work

MRCVS
registered (or eligible)
