Permanent - University College Dublin, Ireland

University College Dublin Veterinary Hospital (UCDVH) is a leading multi-disciplinary, specialist, veterinary referral and teaching hospital located in the thriving city of Dublin in the east of Ireland. Small animal services include orthopaedics and neurosurgery, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging, and dermatology, as well as in-house rehabilitation and physiotherapy. We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive individual, board-certified or board-eligible in Small Animal Neurology (ECVN or ACVIM-neurology), with an emphasis on small animal surgical neurology, who is passionate about delivering clinical and teaching excellence, is an excellent “team player” and has a strong interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. UCDVH has a very large caseload of surgical and medical neurology. This is an exciting opportunity to join a young, progressive, and growing team of diplomates and residency-trained surgeons. UCDVH has a renowned research portfolio and strong research links with other universities in the US/Canada and Europe. Our very large clinical caseload provides opportunity for ongoing clinical research that is actively encouraged.

Our hospital is facilitated with digital radiography, 32 slice Siemens CT and a brand-new state of the art 1.5T MRI, fluoroscopy, Karl Storz laparoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems, operating microscope, full instrumentation for soft tissue, orthopaedic, neurosurgery and interventional radiology, and a radioactive iodine suite. Our orthopaedic/neurosurgery and soft tissue services are extensively equipped to offer BioMedtrix total hip, linear/circular IMEX external skeletal fixation, Synthes internal fixation, Karl Storz UHD arthroscopy, and instrumentation for intraoperative fluoroscopy (eg, SUB) and minimally invasive procedures (thoracoscopy and laparoscopy). The successful applicant will work alongside a full complement of specialists and residents in training in various disciplines (ECVS, ECVIM, ECVDI, ECVP) and a large nursing team.

This is a permanent academic post with 50% off clinics time and great potential for academic development and advancement through outreach, research, innovation, etc. This post is particularly suitable for a neurologist interested in an academic career and has potential for completion of PhD studies within the duties of the post. Individuals coming to the end of their residency training are strongly encouraged to apply; guidance and facilitation of study time for your boards will be accommodated.
