University College Dublin Veterinary Hospital (UCDVH) is aleadingmulti-disciplinary, specialist,veterinary referral and teaching hospital located inthe thriving city of Dublinin the east of Ireland. Small animalservices includeorthopaedicsand neurosurgery, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging,and dermatology, as well as in-house rehabilitation and physiotherapy. We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive individual, board-certified or board-eligible in Small Animal Surgery or Neurology (ECVS/ECVN or ACVS/ACVIM-neurology),who ispassionate about delivering clinical and teaching excellence, is an excellent “team player” and has a stronginterest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. This is an exciting opportunity to join a young,progressive,andgrowing team of diplomates and residency-trained surgeons. UCDVH has a renowned research portfolio and strong research links with other universitiesin the US/Canada and Europe.Our very largeclinical caseload provides opportunity forongoing clinical research that is actively encouraged.

Our hospitalis facilitated with digital radiography, 32 slice Siemens CT and a brand-newstate of the art1.5T MRI, fluoroscopy, Karl Storz laparoscopic and arthroscopic imaging systems, operating microscope, full instrumentation for soft tissue, orthopaedic, neurosurgeryand interventional radiology, and a radioactive iodine suite. Our orthopaedic/neurosurgery and soft tissueservicesareextensively equipped to offer BioMedtrix total hipreplacement, linear/circular IMEX external skeletal fixation, Synthes internal fixation, Karl StorzUHD arthroscopy, and instrumentation for intraoperative fluoroscopy (eg, SUB) and minimally invasive procedures (thoracoscopyandlaparoscopy).The successful applicant will work alongside a full complement of specialists and residents in training in various disciplines (ECVS, ECVIM-CA, ECVDI, ECVP, ECVCP, ECVAA, ECVECC), including 3 ECVS-SA residents, and a large nursing team.This is a permanent academic post with 50% off clinics time and great potential for academic development and advancementthrough outreach, research, innovation, etc.This post is particularly suitable for a surgeon interested in an academic careerand has potential for completion of PhD studies within the duties of thepost.
