Internship in neurology and neurosurgery at Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire ADVETIA, France (2020-2021)

Centre Hospitalier Vétérinaire ADVETIA offers a new opportunity for a neurology/neurosurgery intern to assist a team of two ECVN-boarded neurologists.

 We are looking to add to our current neurology service due to a strong caseload and continued growth.

ADVETIA Veterinary Hospital, open 24 hours / 365 days a year, is a multi-specialty referral center that is home to board-certified specialists in surgery (1), radiology/diagnostic imaging (2), internal medicine (2), oncology (1), cardiology (1), dermatology (1), stomatology (1) and anesthesiology / pain management (1). ADVETIA provides emergency and critical care service to local veterinarians on a referral basis.

We provide world-class diagnosis, treatment and care for over 1000 patients a year. We are fully supported by facilities and equipment including 1.5T MRI, CT scanner, electrophysiology equipment and neurosurgical suite/equipment.

We are seeking a motivated neurology/neurosurgery intern to join our team. The successful candidate will have completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship and have a strong desire to pursue a neurology/neurosurgery residency. Daily duties for the neurology intern will be to assist the neurologist during patient examination, imaging procedures, patient care, patient releases, client communication, anesthesia and surgery. In general, the intern will be working 5 days per week during normal hospital hours. He/she will co-manage cases with the neurologist but will be expected to progress to some primary case responsibility. We will provide training in medical/surgical neurology through rotations with the neurologists, MRI application specialists, radiologists and other specialists as desired by the intern and supervising diplomate. Further training will be available through neurology journal club, imaging rounds and neurology rounds. Our hospital also has general internship and residency programs.

Entry requirements:


- 1-year rotating small animal internship or an equivalent experience in private practice.

- Fluent French speaking and writing and a good English speaking and writing level.

- Strong desire to pursue neurology / neurosurgery residency
